Daily Devotional: Ask and You Shall Receive

Bible Verse: Matthew 7:7 (NIV)

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

Reflection:

Today’s verse reminds us of the boundless generosity of God: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7, NIV)

In our busy lives, it’s easy to forget that we can go to God with anything—our joys, our sorrows, our questions, and our dreams. He invites us to ask, not because He doesn’t already know our needs, but because He desires to be in relationship with us. It’s a reminder that we are not alone in our journey, and we don’t need to figure it all out by ourselves.

The act of asking is an expression of our trust in God’s provision. It acknowledges that He is the source of all we need, and it humbles us to recognize that His ways are higher than ours. When we ask, we align ourselves with His will, opening ourselves to receive His perfect answers, which may not always come in the way we expect but are always for our good.

In the seeking and knocking, there is an active participation in God's kingdom. We are called to search with intention, to seek His will in every area of our lives. God promises that when we seek Him with a sincere heart, we will find Him. And when we knock—whether it’s on doors of opportunity, healing, or understanding—He will open them in His perfect timing.

As we reflect on this promise, let’s consider what we are asking God for today. Are we asking with faith, believing that He hears us? Are we seeking His will in our lives, trusting that He will guide our paths? And are we knocking on the doors of opportunities that align with His purpose for us?

Take a moment today to pause and reflect on your relationship with God. What is He inviting you to ask for? What is He calling you to seek? And what doors is He opening in your life that require your trust in Him?

As you go about your day, remember that God’s love is abundant, and He longs for us to come to Him with our needs, our desires, and our questions. He is always ready to answer, to guide, and to open doors for those who seek Him.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise that when we ask, we will receive; when we seek, we will find; and when we knock, the door will be opened.

Help us to trust You with our hearts’ desires and to seek You with sincerity and faith. Open the doors in our lives that align with Your will, and lead us in the paths of righteousness.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
